Dubai, May 29 – His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and President of the Emirates Society for Genetic Diseases, honored the winners of the 8th Emirates International Award for Reducing Genetic Disorders. This event coincided with the 8th International Conference on Genetic Disorders held in Dubai.
The ceremony, which took place the evening before last, was attended by Professor Tom Reiss, President of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine, along with three Nobel Prize-winning scientists, and a host of global experts in stem cells and genetic diseases. Also present were the award’s Board of Trustees, doctors, representatives from supporting government health agencies, and leading global companies specializing in molecular biology and genetics technology.
The event honored 17 institutions, organizations, and individuals from international, regional, Arab, and local levels across nine main award categories.
In his speech during the ceremony, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan welcomed the scientists and researchers from the participating countries. He emphasized the importance of such global scientific events and occasions hosted by the UAE.
